Update for the end of Spring Semester

We are wrapping up another successful semester at ASU. With graduation around the corner, there have been a few changes as some of our members are moving on into the next step in their lives. We thank them for their contributions and wish them the very best!

The election has resulted in a new batch officers. Your new officers are:

  • Joseph Drolshagen - President
  • Brandon Fletcher – Vice-President
  • Cory Harasha – Treasurer
  • Glenn Craver – Secretary

This has been the last meeting for this semester. We wish you good luck with your finals and have a happy and relaxing summer! We’ll be in touch when SoDA resumes in Fall 2012 :)

Hack Night This Thursday

Hello SoDA Members!

This Thursday, April 12th from 6:30p – 9:00p in BYAC 110 will be one of our final SoDA meetings for the semester. We will gather any final submissions for anyone who still would like to run for a given officer position and then hold elections to decide the future President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer of SoDA. Following this, members are invited to share any projects they are currently working on, enjoy some Pizza, and talk casually.

Be there!

Tonight’s Meeting Canceled

Hello SoDA Members!

Unfortunately, we will not be hosting a meeting tonight, however our next meeting will be hosted on April 12th, at which we will allow all those who have decided to run for officer positions to speak to the club about why they believe they are best suited for the position. After all candidates are finished, we will host the elections and decide who will be officers of SoDA for next semester.

If you would like to run for any of the available positions (President, Vice President, Secretary, or Treasurer), please send an email to asusoda@gmail.com

Thank you!

Video and Source Code from Embedded Scripting for Games Talk

SoDA Meeting: Embedded Scripting for Games from SoDA @ ASU on Vimeo.

Our guest speaker, Jeremy Wright, professor of the C++ Practicum and professional code writer will be discussing embedded scripting for video games.

“We will be presenting in C++, how to use Flex, and Bison to parse a custom command language; Then we’ll show how to add this command interpreter to a basic game. We’ll have a simple SDL graphics layer, and manipulate C++ objects at runtime. It should be very interesting. We’ll post the code after the talk so students can download it, and use it in their own projects. I will be live coding the project (in vim… :) ).”

Fall 2012 Election

The Software Developers Association @ ASU is the largest software development organization on ASU campus. Our current leadership will be graduating in May 2012, so it is necessary to hold elections as soon as possible in order to prevent the dissolution of the organization.

Elections will be held before the end of this semester, so it is important that if you wish to run for any of the available positions, you submit this as soon as possible. Elections will take place after each candidate is given a few minutes to present to the rest of the organization why they wish to be elected as a SoDA officer. Elected officers will shadow current officers for the remainder of the semester in order to establish an understanding of how to complete organization related tasks.

Please fill out the following form and email it to asusoda@gmail.com.

SoDA @ Engineering Open House

Hey there! As many of you have probably heard, the Fulton Schools of Engineering are hosting a special event called the Engineering Open House, in which many intelligent students will present exhibits highlighting engineering through the use of fun demos. As software developers, this is easy for us, as most of our projects from classes or from personal work are all demo-able. For this reason, SoDA is requesting an area so that we can show off what many of our members have accomplished during their education at ASU.

More info: http://more.engineering.asu.edu/openhouse/

Please contact us (asusoda@gmail.com) if you would like to be a part of our exhibit. This is a great chance to get feedback about your creations, and to network with others.

Thanks!
