Tonight’s Meeting Canceled

Hello SoDA Members!

Unfortunately, we will not be hosting a meeting tonight, however our next meeting will be hosted on April 12th, at which we will allow all those who have decided to run for officer positions to speak to the club about why they believe they are best suited for the position. After all candidates are finished, we will host the elections and decide who will be officers of SoDA for next semester.

If you would like to run for any of the available positions (President, Vice President, Secretary, or Treasurer), please send an email to asusoda@gmail.com

Thank you!

SoDA @ Engineering Open House

Hey there! As many of you have probably heard, the Fulton Schools of Engineering are hosting a special event called the Engineering Open House, in which many intelligent students will present exhibits highlighting engineering through the use of fun demos. As software developers, this is easy for us, as most of our projects from classes or from personal work are all demo-able. For this reason, SoDA is requesting an area so that we can show off what many of our members have accomplished during their education at ASU.

More info: http://more.engineering.asu.edu/openhouse/

Please contact us (asusoda@gmail.com) if you would like to be a part of our exhibit. This is a great chance to get feedback about your creations, and to network with others.

Thanks!

SoDA Meeting Tomorrow

Hello! Tomorrow, Thursday, March 15, we will be hosting our weekly SoDA meeting in BYAC 110 from 6:30p to 9:00p.

Jesse and Travis will discuss information that they gathered from the Game Developers Conference (GDC) including what new technologies were presented, presentation slides from the Microsoft Developer Day presentation (Video Games with Metro in Windows 8), and what you need to prepare for if you wish to join the video game industry.

Free pizza will be provided and we will be giving away a few shirts. After our discussion about GDC topics, the floor will be open to our members to work on projects, share progress, and discuss participation in the upcoming Engineering Open House event.

Be there!

No SoDA Meeting Tonight

We won’t be hosting a SoDA meeting tonight, as Jesse and Travis are out of town attending the Game Developers Conference, and we have no one to host the meeting. Our next meeting will be held next Thursday (March 15th), in which Jesse and Travis will share their experience from GDC including advice from several recruiters from game development companies including Blizzard.

Hack Night Tonight

Hello everyone!

Tonight we don’t have any speakers presenting, so instead we’re hosting a hack night. Bring your laptops, board games, and whatever you’d like and be prepared to have a casual night of coding, playing, and sharing. For those developing a project (game/application/website), we invite you to make use of the projectors in the room to present your creation(s) with your fellow SoDA members!

The meeting will be held tonight (Thursday, 03/01/2012) from 6:30pm to 9:30pm in BYAC 110.

Be there!

SoDA Meeting 2

Just a friendly reminder, tomorrow night (Thursday, Feb 9th from 6:30pm – 9:30pm) in BYAC 110, we will be hosting our second meeting.

For ASU students who haven’t already discovered us, we are the Software Developer’s Association @ ASU. We invite all parties interested in technology, programming, or just people interested in collaboration with other students to join us.

We’re still working with the speaker we had planned to visit and present, however we can’t yet guarantee him for this meeting. More information about the speaker will be sent out as a follow up as soon as we know.

Thanks!

Google’s Here!

Google will be hosting a series of events and meetings starting today (Thursday) and tomorrow (Friday); this would be a great experience to learn more about what it takes to work at Google and to just get an overal better understanding of what Google does internally. I suggest that all of you go, because this isn’t an opportunity you will have very frequently. Make sure to tell them how awesome SoDA is!
