First SoDA Meeting of Spring

Hello, friends! It’s that time again; the first scheduled weekly meeting for the Software Developer’s Association is just around the corner. This Thursday (Feb. 2, 2012) from 6:30PM – 9:30PM, we will host the first meeting of the semester in Brickyard Artisan Court Room 110 (BYAC 110).

To start the meeting off we will introduce our organization to new members, introduce ourselves, and plan for future meetings. After getting formalities out of the way, entrepreneur Ben Huston, CEO of Looterang.com will discuss his product, a service that discovers rewards personalized to the way you shop, his experience in creating a startup in Phoenix, and the mobile platforms on which they release to, iOS and Android.

After the conclusion of the official meeting, the current SoDA officers will stick around to talk with SoDA members to discuss the upcoming election for new officers. Anyone interested in a fantastic way to demonstrate your leadership skills (Or anyone interested in improving their leadership skills), should come talk with us after the club meeting so we can share the information.

Thanks!

GoDaddy + SoDA = <3

Hey SoDA!

Our first meeting back from the midterm break will be given by Dan Casey, head of the mobile development team at GoDaddy. He plans on giving a two-parted presentation about mobile architecture and how to get hired out of college.
His tech talk will cover various things specific to mobile application development. Dan tends to have very interactive presentations, so feel free to come prepared with questions about personal projects!
During the second portion, expect to hear about GoDaddy-specific opportunities as well as general pointers on getting into other companies right out of college. Dan was an ASU student who got an internship with GoDaddy and was promoted within months, so his advice will certainly be relevant!

Meeting Details:
When: Wednesday, October 19th at 7:00pm
Where: BYAC 110 on ASU’s Tempe Campus (BYAC = Brickyard Artisan Court)
Focus: GoDaddy: Mobile Application Architecture / How to Get Hired Out of College

We look forward to seeing you there!

First Meeting of the Semester

To everyone who joined us in September 1st, thank you! For those of you who couldn’t, what gives?! Just kidding, of course, but to everyone, regardless of whether you were with us at the last meeting or not, please show up to our next meeting, which is scheduled for Wed, September 8th!

During our first meeting, Jesse, Jeremy, Alan, and I discussed the new direction in which we plan to take the Software Developers Association. Our plans focus on creating both an educational and productive environment for our members to work on real projects, which we plan on releasing at the end of each semester. Through the teamwork and leadership experience that will be acquired, you will not only be creating a cool application or game, but you will also be building up your resume so you can land that job with (INSERT COMPANY YOU WANT TO WORK WITH HERE)!

Anyways, I have posted the presentation and materials we used for the last meeting, just in case anyone wants to review them.

Thanks again
