Wireless@Virginia Tech Opportunity

Wireless@Virginia Tech is offering a summer undergraduate research program in Cognitive Communications.  I am hoping that you can let appropriate students at Arizona State know about this program that offers students a chance to gain hands-on experience in cutting-edge topics in communications and networking.

The nine-week summer program will run from June 5 through August 3, 2012.  The application deadline is April 13, so prompt action is needed.  Students will gain hands-on experience in cognitive radios, wireless networking, and their applications; develop general research and teamwork skills; and cultivate and develop creative and independent thinking, self-confidence, team spirit, and an appreciation for the potential of interdisciplinary collaboration in creating new knowledge.  Program benefits include:

·         Stipend ($4,500 over 9 weeks)

·         Free on-campus housing

·         Travel allowance of up to $600

IOS application for patients

Dr. Keith Chapman, PhD and I are looking for a student(s) to help design a software application for iPhone.  The target users of this application are those individuals suffering from disorders affecting the voluntary control of movement (Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, stroke, etc.).

We have worked with ASU faculty and students in the past to help students receive credit for working on projects such as this one.

SoDA Meeting Tomorrow

Hello! Tomorrow, Thursday, March 15, we will be hosting our weekly SoDA meeting in BYAC 110 from 6:30p to 9:00p.

Jesse and Travis will discuss information that they gathered from the Game Developers Conference (GDC) including what new technologies were presented, presentation slides from the Microsoft Developer Day presentation (Video Games with Metro in Windows 8), and what you need to prepare for if you wish to join the video game industry.

Free pizza will be provided and we will be giving away a few shirts. After our discussion about GDC topics, the floor will be open to our members to work on projects, share progress, and discuss participation in the upcoming Engineering Open House event.

Sony PlayStation is searching for creative, social, entrepreneurial, and well-connected individuals to represent its new handheld gaming device, the PlayStation Vita.  Your job will be to drive awareness and engagement for the Vita through events, word of mouth tactics, and social media channels.

The PS Vita revolutionizes the gaming experience with dual analog sticks, front and rear multi touch pads, motion sensors, and front and rear cameras. The new handheld features augmented reality gaming and social connectivity through multiple social networking apps.

  3. Additional guerilla tactics on a per campus basis
  • Offline distribution of promotional materials
  • Online promotion via online social networks such as Facebook status updates and events, Tweets, Foursquare check-ins, etc
  • Reporting summary of promotional activities
